The Gospel of John announces “He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!” John 8:36
I just returned from ministering to a group of inmates at the local prison. Every time I go in there I realize the sad reality of crime, broken lives and personal bondages. Every incarcerated person desires to be free! One inmate happily said to me, “I only have ten more days in here”. Another proudly informed me that ‘within six months I will be going before the parole board.’ They could each taste freedom!  Unfortunately, there are many in today’s society and even in the church that have never set foot inside a prison door but still live incarcerated lives.   Living in defeat, living in failure and living in condemnation from their past! Far too many are living in bondage when they should be living in freedom! Far too many are living in the grip of Satan’s lies when they should be living in the grip of God’s grace! Far too many are living in dark places of life when they should be living in the light of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

The scriptures clearly teach us that there is freedom in Christ! Provision has been made for all sinful humanity through the cross of Calvary so that we can enjoy a life filled with freedom. The Psalmist writes; Psalms 124:7-8 “We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

The snares of bondage like; sin, condemnation, and fear have been broken! While you have been fluttering in this life like a bird in a snare, I am glad to report to you, that it is possible for you to be SET FREE! There is a great doctrine in the word of God that we keep forgetting and it’s the doctrine that declares; that we are Justified by Faith! It was on the cross of Calvary that Jesus carried all of our sin … Past, Present and Future! And when He gave that well-know cry “It is Finished!” it was at that moment that the ultimate provision was made for every snare to be broken and you and I were given the privilege to live a life of abundance, liberty and freedom in Christ.

Paul writes … Romans 8:1-3 -   1.Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh …”

The Gospel of John 8:36 announces “He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!” Friend you don’t have to wait to go before the parole board to get pardon; Jesus already did that for you two thousand years ago. Breakout of your prison today and start enjoying FREEDOM!

Be Set Free!
