Phil 3:20 “But Our Citizenship is in Heaven…

July month brings many Celebrations!

Weddings, vacations, family, friends and sun! July 1st is always kicked off with a national celebration, that being Canada’s birthday! Many Canadians will celebrate Canada’s 144th birthday this month. Many will celebrate the joy of being a Canadian Citizen. Canada accepts 250,000 immigrants each year, people desiring to leave their homeland to take up citizenship in this beautiful Country of ours.

I too am proud to be a Canadian Citizen. I am proud of our history, our resources, our democracy, and our flag, and not to mention our freedoms, freedoms that many other countries do not have the privilege to enjoy as Canadian Citizens.   Yes Canada is no doubt a wonderful place to have citizenship. But what about our citizenship after this life; have you given any thought about that?

Every human being needs to realize that our ultimate citizenship will not be in any place in this world. The Apostle Paul, while speaking to one particular audience in Phil 3:20-21 said 20 But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

In the Apostles mind his citizenship after this life was settled, it was not going to be in Rome but it was going to be in Heaven! How about you, do you know for sure where your ultimate Citizenship will be?

Sure you may be a Canadian Citizen and you may have the passport to prove it but what about your future Citizenship; can you say when you pass from this life into the next that you will take up residence and citizenship in the place that the bible calls Heaven?  If not you can!

Jesus said in John’s Gospel 14:1-6  1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

This world as we know is passing away, 1 John 2:15-17 states Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Friend, Heaven is real and our only authorization to get there is through God’s Son the Lord Jesus Christ!  Why not ensure your Heavenly Citizenship today and call upon the name of Jesus and invite Him to be the Lord and Savior of your life.
