Never Give Up

Martin Luther King, just two days before his assassination said these words …

"When you can’t fly – RUN!
When you can’t run – WALK!
When you can’t walk – CRAWL!
Whatever you do, just keep MOVING!"

The Apostle Peter, in the scriptures, knew what it was to be weary and to go from running to crawling however, we must credit him with the fact that in the midst’s of all his faults, failures and frustrations he kept moving!   Jesus said to him, in the gospel of Luke 5:4-5 … “I want you to … Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Peter answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; …”

It was here that Peter was facing physical fatigue; he was tormented, tired and felt like giving up!  I’m sure, on that day he had visited his favourite fishing grounds, places where he had caught fish before!  I’m sure he used the same nets the same bait that he used before. Yet, after labouring very hard, he said … “Master, we have toiled all night and have taken nothing.”

Friends are you tired and discouraged! Are you dealing with thoughts of quitting, throwing in the towel on life or even your walk with God!  Allow me to encourage you and say “DON’T GIVE UP!”

That’s what Jesus basically said to Peter, “Launch out into the deep - put your Faith in me Peter!  Let down your net for a catch”, and then Peter said, “Nevertheless, at thy word, I will let down the net!”

In our moments of wanting to give up, may we learn the value of trusting God’s Word!

Circumstances say, “There’s no use to try!”

Faith says, “With God, I am more than a conqueror.”

The Enemy says, “You’ll never make it.”

God says, “If I am for you, who can stand against you?”

Peter said, “Nevertheless, at thy word, I will let down the net!”  And by Faith, at Christ Command, he put down his net and when he did, he began pulling in the fish …OH THE FISH!   The Bible states in Luke 5:6-7 that the net was so filled with fish that it began to break and he had to call for his partners, who were in a nearby boat to come and fill their boat as well.

My friend, don’t give up! You may be on the brink of your miracle!  Take God at His Word and say as did Peter, “Nevertheless, at thy word, I will let down the net!”

Never Give Up!
