Life can be difficult. Being a Christian in a non Christian world poses all kinds of problems. There are days when we find ourselves saying “I have no clue!” No clue what to say, no clue what to do and no clue which way to turn!
The Christian life is constantly in a battle with the world. The world wants to convert you to its paganism, to its ungodly devotion to the unholy. And if you don't conform, if you don't bend the knee to its idols and sacrifices, you will be ridiculed, mocked, and attacked. In this battle there are all sorts of struggles. There are days when you just have no clue what to do!
On the inside, you struggle against sin: pride, lust, greed, boasting, and various selfish desires. On the outside, you struggle against illness, poverty, relationships, job difficulties, an unsure future, and more.
As a Christian, what do you do when life is coming down on you hard, when there seems to be no way out, when your relationship with God is being affected, when you are worried or afraid, when you are in distress? What do you do when you are facing such monumental obstacles? How do you resist temptation, flee from evil, or believe beyond your ability to understand how your problems can be solved?
King Jehoshaphat, the fourth king of the kingdom of Judah teaches us a lesson when we have, “No Clue” what to do in life's difficuties! In 2 Chronicles 20 the armies of Moab, Ammon, and the Meunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was afraid; and rightly so, for the army approaching him was indeed a mighty one, beyond what he would be able to handle. He was in trouble.
In 2 Chronicles 20:12 we have his words; “Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
He said; “Lord, we have No Clue what to do, but our eyes are on you”
It is in our moments of uncertainty; our moments when we have no clue what to do that we need to keep our focus, faith and confidence upon the Lord! He said; “… We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
The scriptures tell us that as Jehoshaphat and his people stood with their total dependence in the Lord that God spoke to them and said: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” (2 Chronicles 20:15 and 17)
Friends, maybe right now you are facing a serious struggle and you’re left not having a clue what to do! May I encourage you today to keep your eyes upon the Lord who is your help and deliverer, for the promise that He made to King Jehoshaphat, He has made to you today - "Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s…”
No Clue what to do? Trust in Him, “who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us", (Eph 3:20)
