Pastor's Blog - September 2010

Can you believe it? We are forced to transition into the Fall Season again. Change and transition come, whether we want it or not. That being said, it seems that “transition” certainly describes the place where many people find themselves in this hour. This is the time of the year where we are changing seasons... the leaves are changing their colour, our evenings are getting shorter and our children have moved back to the classrooms.  Transition is happening everywhere.

Transition is something that we cannot stop.  I personally experienced this first hand in these past few weeks, as I watched my daughter leave for University and my son get his Driver’s Licence making him a little more independent. While I am facing that kind of transition, there are others who are facing other kinds of transition.   During pastoral care today,  I had the privilege of  watching one of God’s servants transition from this life to the next.  WOW!   1 Sam 20:3 states, “… but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.”

However, at times this transition may come without any signs, warning or notice.   Therefore, of all the transitions that we may face in life, this is one that we need most to make personal preparation for. God’s word declares that we can be ready for this transition, through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus died so that we might live.  John 11:25-27 - 25“Jesus said …  I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:   26And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.  Believest thou this?”

Paul the Apostle states in 2 Corinthians 5:7-9  … 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight:  8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the lord.  9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him”.  Let us prepare ourselves for the greatest transition of all times... passing from this life into the next!  Make Christ your personal saviour...your guarantee for a life in heaven.  John 6:37  “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”  Nope..we cannot hinder the coming transition of summer to fall, no matter how much we wish we could.....and  we can’t hinder life and death transition either...but we can prepare!!
